Does International Politics Play A Role In Passenger Demand?

I think I remember reading about this, but does international politics play a role in passenger demand? For example, my flights between Turkey and Cyprus are empty. So just curious if politics is playing a role in this.

Thanks!

Political restrictions do apply in game, more can be found on the wiki

And of course considering that passenger demand is somehow based on real life airline schedules and airport statistics, it somehow is related too. But not in the way that somewhere in the world anything happens and in AirlineSim suddenly the demand is dropping or increasing.

I decided just to try this out a few weeks ago and scheduled a daily Tehran-Tel Aviv service. 0 passengers in two classes for three days.

That's because flights between Israel and the following countries are restricted:

Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Libanon, Libya, Marocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi-Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunesia, UAE
