I assume that a manual transfer flight still reduces your maintenance time. I never tested it tough.

Sometimes it's possible to fly A->B->C->A with one plane and A->C->B->A with a 2nd to give you an odd number of flights and still end the day at your start location.

I do this ie with my airilne in Nigeria on domestic routes where I have no competition and it's very profitable. I don't even have to lower prices much.


... and  image is rather bad.


I think the quality of seats isn't affecting your image, only density does.

Don't underestimate domestic demand. For instance my Airline in Nigeria operates 6 737-900ER just on the Lagos-Abuja Route. So I advise against using turboprops in anything but tiny markets. It hurts your image too much. Starting with 737-700 (or EMB 195) on the better domestic routes sounds like a good plan to me. It will also give you a  ORS rating advantage over the competition, that is currently using Dashes.

When passengers continue on the same aircraft, the minimum transfer time does not matter. This applies in general, not only for via flights. There is no difference between a via flight or two independent flights except for flights in Africa under the Yamoussoukro Decision.
